Friday Sketchers #91 - A New Friends Thank You

We had to follow a sketch today over at Friday Sketchers... so I decided to use my new images that I received from Suzana over at Susana's Custom Art & Card Design (SCACD) these gorgeous Elizabeth Bell images are exclusive at her site which you can find here I was the lucky winner of her blog candy last week, and won all 3 editions. I'll be relaxing til Spring playing with these, that's if it stops snowing... Another day off for the NYC Dept of Education.. Wow twice in the last 2 weeks. Woo Hoo!!!!! I will be sending her this card as a thank you for her generosity...

I masked the image and used the Lovely As A Tree set from Stampin Up for trees in the background. I also used the new bird punch from Stampin Up to try and incorporate the bird she is holding in her hand.

Friday Sketchers #90

Here's My Friday Sketchers Card..Didn't think I'd be able to squeeze another card in, but since it was half way done, I decided to finish it off today, and get it in before the deadline.

I used my Cricut once again for the frame behind the image. Since the frame was not as long as the image, I cut it in half and framed it behind the image.

Alas, this will probably be my last post till later in the week.. Back to work tomorrow so back to the wind & grind of things. Just Magnolia Challenge #43

This week we had to follow a sketch by JayJay. What a great sketch, I can see me using this again and again. Here is my take on the sketch. At first I colored her shirt yellow to match the paper, but after I colored it in, guess because I didn't quite have the right yellow it was either to lemonee or to mustardee it looked terrible, So back to the drawingboard I went and decided to go with this yellow green. Guess I'll have to order some more yellows with my next copic order..

And the Receipe for this weeks challenge is:
3 TYPES OF EMBELLISHMENTS
2 PATTERNED PAPERS you can also use coordinating cardstock :-)

After the card was all done.. I decided to add the flower soft since the Spring colors matched the paper perfectly. This was the first time I used this particular color..and have only used the snow once before, and I must say, that I am not pleased with the results..I expected it to be more airy..Not sure if I added too much.. but I wish I would have left well enough alone...

WOJ 67--Swirls & Pearls

Whiff of Joys challenge is Swirls & Pearls. I had these swirly perals and thought they would be perfect for the challenge, but they were stark white, so I used my BG72Copic and colored them in.Using the same copic, I also colored in the hearts which were also stark white. I paper pieced the towel & her hair bow to match the background paper. This isn't one of my better pictures, not sure if it was the lighting, but it was hard to get a better shot.

To achieve the scallops around the card, I cut my paper at 5 x 10 scoring at 5, used my MS corner punch I punched each of the eight corners, for the corners at the fold, you need to put in one of the arms, and line up the line on the side of the corner punch with the fold. Then use the matching border punch to get the scallop affect around the card. When you cut the paper at this size and line up the corner at each side of the punch, it is 2 border punches for each side and comes out perfect each time. You can find the video at Splitcoast Stampers under "Punch Around the Page".

Stamp: Whiff of Joy
Paper: Basic Grey, Paper Trey Vanilla,
Extras: Long Rectangle Nesties, MS Matching Corner & Border Punch, Self Adhesive Swirl Perals, MS Branch Punch,& Sparkle Hearts & Dimentionals

Copic Creations Challenge #22-Coloring Embellishments

This was done for the Copic Creation Challenge. This weeks challenge is to color your embellishmentand and make an Easter Card so I colored in the pearls on the front of the card using RV11 so that it would match the pinks perfectly

I found this multi fold card over at the House Mouse challenge which is to make a multi fold card. So I gave it a go. At first I was going to use a House Mouse stamp for this card, but decided this Penny Black was the perfect size for this particular card. So off I go to make a different multi fold card for that challenge. The directions for this card can be found here I used a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock using measurements for a 5 1/2 card for the 2 folds at the bottom, I cut those at 2 3/4 you will understand when you see the template, but the template is in CM's..

And as you all know, I am bow challenged.... I will cut the tails of the bow after I write my personal sentiment in it. This is the view of the card completly colosed

Valentine Heart Boxes

I made these boxes for my husband and 2 boys. the one that has the heart tag is for my husband, the other 2 are for my sons. I would have loved them to be a little bigger, but I am still happy with this size. I used my cricut cartridge Tags, Bags, Boxes & More thinking that it had a Chinese Food Containiner Box, but it didn't so I used the Heart Box which is still appropriate for Valentines Day, I cut it using the Fit to Page set at 12".. so the actual box is 8 1/2"..it was fun and super easy to make

This is the top of the box showing the heart. For my husbands which is the one in front, I layered a heart on top of the box top heart, I used my heart punch from SU and cut it in half and placed it on the box top heart. To open the box, you slide the two halves in opposite directions and viola.. It opens. I filled them with special Valentine Fortune Cookies that are pink and have special Valentine sayings in them, hence the reason why I wanted a Chinese Food Container Box.. and just to let you know the cookes are delish.... Of course I had to test one out before it went into the box.

Thanks for looking...and Happy Valentines Day everyone

WOJ # 66 - Wish BIg

I haven't had time to play in a WOJ challenge which seems like forever... We were in the midst of a blizzard yesterday in NYC.. schools closed, so no work..Yipee!!! But unfortunatly my day of bliss is over, since I had to report back to school today..Boo Hoo For us it was a big thing since it was only the third time in the last 8 years that the mayor has closed the schools due to the weather so this unexpected day off gave me a chance to play and have some fun. But there is always next week since it will be our Mid-Winter Recess...lots and lots of time to play

Copic Creataions - Feather Blending

I deleted my first post when I realized I did the feather blending all wrong. I used two colors that were too similar in the spectrum to show any feathering. So I re-did the apron using RVOOO & B00 this time. Not as I had invisioned it, and still not sure if it's right, but I gave it a try.. I will not give up and will try it again because it is beautiful once you get the hang of it. You can check it out
here there are some extremely talented ladies and some gorgeous creations. Maybe the third time will be a charm for me.

Penny Black #87 - Pins & Pearls

I was asked to make 3 bridal shower cards and this is the 2nd one that I did, I used my Sentimentals Cricut Cartridge to cut the frame at 5 1/4". I cut the frame 2x and then popped it up on dimentionals to give it some depth. I then used the shadow feature of the frame for the background of the frame (next time I know to use the blackout feature, hey you live and you learn).. The image is All White from Penny black one of my favorite images, and so easy to color... The card is a pre-embossed card from DCWV.

Sketch Saturday

A quick post this morning so that I can upload this before the deadline. Although I finished this card on Monday, my busy schedule didn't allow me to upload it sooner. This was done for someone at work who needs 3 Bridal Shower cards, one for herself and 2 for the brides mother. This is for my friend at work. For hers I used these colors since the blue is close to what the bridal party is wearing. The other 2 cards are more traditional using white, black & greys and I will try and upload those tomorrow.
