Easter's on It's Way - Friday Sketchers #147

I so look forward to Fridays, not only because it is the end of the work week, but I love the sketches from the Friday Sketchers team. I find I use them over and over again. So here is my take on this weeks challenge:

Now ladies, I decided to try something new which I can not take credit for. I decided to incorporate the idea of creating a clay figure to match my card for family and friends. I got this idea from the very talented Gloria Dawson who inspired me the second I saw her GORGEOUS creations. Her work can be found here
Now after you see her work, remember, she's a pro at this and this is on of my firsts attempt so of course I see tons of flaws in the picture, so just give me about a hundred years and I'll catch up.

This is my second fimo creation, which is a little better than my first, My first was done for a DT challenge and will be posted in a few weeks

AnEnglish Rose for Mother's Day

Over on the other side of the pond Mother's Days comes a little earlier than it does here in the states. This weeks theme by our very talented Laney at Creative Inspirations is to create a Mother's Day card/project. The DT have been very busy, they have made some gorgeous creations. Would love for you to check them out, they would love hearing from you. So why not get a little inspiration from the team, play along and create a card/project for Mother's Day whether it's for now or the 2nd week of May.

I used this image from Stamp Happens, and papers from Basic Grey.

Just Magnolia/Secret Crafter Saturday Challenge

I have entered two challenges on this one post, so please scroll down to see my entry in the Secret Sister Saturday Challenge which is anything but a card.

As many people know, my favorite color is blue, but with so many color combo's who really can have a favorite. Lately, I am trying to work outside the box and use warmer colors. I am loving the green's and rust together especially for a masculine card. So I am entering this in the Just Magnolia/Hangler Stangler Challenge this week.

This is my first Hangler Card.. I don't have any stamps and won these images from my dear friend Tammi. She has an awesome blog, and does wonders with her copics. She truly is an inspiration to me.

My girlfriends and I get together and "scrap" together every once in a while. I did this card while we were together. Since they knew I was doing this for my friend John's Birthday, I didn't add any flowers, but they knew I wanted to. Again, I wanted to give it a more masculine feel. So my, girlfriends and I kept joking that when they left I was going to add flowers, but they teased back saying that the next time they saw him they were going to ask him if there were flowers on his card...lol... So I was a good girl and left it alone, using buttons for my accents.

This fits the following challenges:

Paper: Basil CS: Burning Ember, DP: Cosmo Cricket Happy Camper/Want S'more?
Extras: Doohicky Swirl Die, Buttons, Twine, Corner Punch

I found this in the clearance section of a local craft store. It was a black memory book that begged to be altered. After seeting all of Stacey's aka Twins Happy lovely altered books which she did quite a while ago, I knew I had to give it a try. I would have loved to pick up a few more, but unfortunatley they only had 2. I am still trying to purge my papers and not purchase more (lets see how long that lasts, have to go to Michaels later...lol), So I used a 4 x 6 paper pack from DCWV where some of the papers are flocked.

This is for the: Secret crafter Saturday Challenge Anything but a card

Can We Keep Him....Pleeeease

As soon as I saw this adorable image from Mo's Digital Pencil I had to have him. I think he is so cute. This one is called Tolerance and was done for this weeks challenge at Creative Inspiration Our lovely Emma has chosen an easel card for this weeks theme. Please check out the rest of our DT's creations, and enter the challenge and see if you can be our lucky winner. Our sponsers this weeks are Simon Says and Bunny Zoe's.

I did a more masculine feel to the card thinking it would be perfect for a little boy, so I didn't add any fancy embellishments. I am so tempted to put some flowers on it, but I keep telling myself no...lol

Top of the Morning

I have a few Irish friends and will always make them a card for St. Partrick's Day. This year is no exception. My friend who lives on the 11th floor (I'm on the 10th) came down on Saturday rang my door bell and handed me a hot out of the oven fresh loaf of Irish Soda Bread. Talk about mouth watering. My son must have smelled it in the other room came out and immediately ripped off a piece, smothered it with butter and chowed it down.

I am working on another card so I'm not sure if I will give her this one, or the other one as a thank you for that delishious loaf of bread.

Oh Baby Bundle of Joy

This adorable digi image is from Mo's Digital Pencils This week it is Pat Franks turn to host the challenge and she choose babies. With so many pregnant teachers at work, one can never have enough baby cards. We average at least 5 every year and this year is no exception. I also followed the sketch over at Friday Sketchers, where the new DT member Rach has given us a fabulous sketch to play with. So of course I had to play along.

I also did the lips and cheeks a little different this time, I used E93 Tea Rose for the lips then the cheeks going over the cheeks again with E00, I think it gave it a softer touch than the usual R20

I found the word Baby at believe it or not Targets. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to use it on an easel card. I held it in my hand and didn't want to put it down and dug and dug hoping to find another one, but alas, it was the last one that said Baby. I think I'll hit another Target, would love to find this in pink or blue, heck I'll even take another yellow even though it's not my favorite color to work with.
