Sugar Bowl #50-Marlene's Sketch

I followed the sketch over at The Sugar Bowl, not only did we have to follow a sketch but we had emboss as well. Since I had these paper out, I decided to use up the scraps for this card. I love working with blues so I found this quite easy. I will probably save this for my great niece who will turn 1 in March...

I was inspired this morning by Pat Franks beautiul card, so thanks for the inspiration Pat. Here is my take on the Sugar Bowl's challenge.

For You-Friday Sketchers #134

As of right now which is 6AM, there is still no train service into the Rockaways, so not sure how I will get into Manhattan to see Wintuk at the Garden. The show is still on and unfortunatley the tickets are non refundable. Hopefully, around noon we will have service back and I have some sort of chance to see the show. It is only running for a few more weeks and then it's gone for good.

Not sure if being snowed in is good or bad... I did some more damage cyber shopping Found a great deal at Joann's for a Big Shot Pro used a coupon for free shipping saving an addition $20 Can't wait for it to arrive to make some Pop-Up cards and some Dress Boxes...Did damage on the sizzix clearance shop yesterday as well... Ok think I better put the laptop away...lol

This is my take on the Friday Sketchers Sketch created by Claudia Rose. I was itching to use these new papers from Stampin Up, and am not quite sure if I'm love'n them. Will try them again maybe it's the greens, but I'm trying to use things outside my comfort zone. I also altered a box from Godiva Chocolate to match the card, will probably give this to my sister and refill the box with kisses or other small chocolate...

Copic Creations-Sparkle-A Simple Thank You-

I am snowed in!!!! This is a picture from my terrace.. as you can see the beach is covered in snow..The red flag is up meaning no swimming...hum wonder why... a car is stuck on the street below which is a major street that runs is in front of my apartment building and is blocking even the snow plow from getting down to clear the roads. The poor person who's car you only see the roof of will not get his car out till spring. Many cars are up on the median because as "city foke" we know how those snow plows can dig you in even more. The maintenance men haven't even begun to plow the parking lots, and since my car is on the other side of the building I have no idea of how badly it is snowed in. We have so much snow that I don't think I'll be able to dig out for days.

The A train which is an elevated train at this section of Queens (and my transporation into Manhattan), has been stuck on the tracks since 1AM this morning which is not good (third rail all covered up) and yes there are people on it. They are stuck 3 stops from my house. I feel for those people and others that are stuck someplace other than the warmth of there cozy abodes...I hope the tracks are cleared up by tomorrow though since I am Broadway bound to see Wintuck at Madison Square Garden...

So what's a girl to do, but cyber shop and play, and not in the snow...lol.... feels good to be creative again. I made this for my son's girlfriends family to say thank you for the beautiful fruit basket that was presented to me on Christmas day. It is so beautiful, that I don't want to open in up...

This fits the Copic Creation challenge which is sparkle, the paper is sparkly which I'm not quite sure if it shows, and I added Stickles to the flowers and bird.

Just Magnolia-Mina's Sketch & Totally Tilda-Easel Card

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas, and had a wonderful time with family and friends. It was all quite on the eastern front, I spent Christmas Eve at the in-laws for our traditional Italian feast of the 7 fishes, and yesterday was spent at home with my parents, and of course hubby and the boys, I cooked up a storm and am looking forward to the leftovers, for some reason lasagne tastes better the second day and come to think of it so does that standing rib roast...lol

I've been up since 4AM, and decided to see what blog land had to offer, I saw this great sketch on Just Magnolia by Mina and decided to make a birthday card for my adopted niece (my BFF's daughter) whose 18th birthday is today...hey, nothing like the last minute right...

I followed this wonderful sketch over at Sketch Saturday, and used this adorable Penny Black stamp for their challenge which was to use Ivy or Holly so of course these adorable mice fit right in. So here is my take on both challenges.

Happy Belated Birthday-Magnolia Stamp Lover Challenge

I know I haven't posted in awhile, still working on my "project". But had to take a welcoming brake to make two cards for work. The first is for the Postman who delivers to our school. When he saw a card that I made, he asked me to make a card for his Aunt who's birthday was last month. Hard to believe that the Postman is sending a belated birthday card..lol He asked that I use anything educational related. So I thought this adorable Magnolia was just the right one. It was also my first attempt at darker skin tones. Thanks to Suzanne Deans tutorial I was able to accomplish this. Anyway, I just used this image for the calendar so it was still out. So, can you guess what month they were for? 9 months down and 3 to go which technically is only 36 left.. Hopefully I will be done by next week. At least that's my goal.

This is for the Magnolia Stamp Lovers Challenge Punch it Up!!since I used my Nellie Snellin Flower Punch for the flowers, SU Corner Punch & the SU tag punch for the sentiment

This is for a co-worker who will celebrate her 60th Birthday tomorrow. I thought this Penny Black image was perfect. It's called Best of Luck.

Ride Um Cowboy

This is a quick post, I made this for my little "great" nephew who just turned 5. He is such a cutie. Unfortunatly, I haven't been able to join in on any of the challenges because I've been working on my monthly calendars so that has been taking up all of my time. I am usually done by now, but because I waited until October to begin this "project", that is all I've been working on. I have been taking my images to work and coloring the images during my lunch hour, I've been averaging 2-3 so it has been taking me a week just to color the images. On a good note, I am done with the first 5 months, and almost done with the 6th...Yeah.

Friday Sketchers & Magnolia Stamp Lovers-Purple & Black

I am posting two cards today, both for Halloween, needed to finish my halloween cards so that I can mail them out on Monday or Tuesday the latest. I think I have two more to do. The funny thing is that I had a list on a pad in my kitchen of those I am sending them out to, figured I check the names off as I finish the card so I look at the list and the last entry I see that my son wrote "New Park". I must say it gave me a chuckle because "New Park" is the pizzeria that we works in, I guess he wants me to make one for his boss at work.

Anyway, card number one was done for both Friday Sketchers and Magnolia Stamp Lovers. This weeks sketch over at Friday Sketchers is by Jacque absolutely loved it and for the Magnolia Stamp Lovers challenge the theme this week is to use Purple and Black. Well, I've been itching to use this paper, and it was perfect for this challenge. So here is my take on both challenges.

MDUC #68 & Magnolia Stamp Lovers Sparkling

Haven't had a chance to make any cards lately, by the time I get home from work, I'm too pooped to pop, and my weekends have been very full. But I knew I had to play with this sketch by Debbie at MDU and at least get a Halloween card done. So this is my take on the MDU Sketch and Sparkling for Magnolia Stamp Lovers Challenge which will be my first entry for this Challenge.

Halloween Triangle Boxes

I made these adorable boxes for some family and friends for Halloween. I just have to fill them up with some chocolate before I ship them off. They were so fun to make. Once I got the hang of all the scores and folds I was just whipping them out. Can't wait to make some more... I found a video tutorial on you tube by just typing in How to Mae a triangle box and to my surprise found one by Becca. I tried to put in the link but couldn't get it to work.

Weekly Planner Before & After

Every year, I usually make desk calendars for my family and friends. Making 9 sets of 12 can be stressful. Especially when this year the 9 becomes 11 since my niece and soon to be niece have hinting that they would love a set for there desks as well. However this year, I haven't started that project, and don't know if I will. but hey, the night is still young I can still change my mind and decide to make them and really be stressed out..lol. So for now, I have made these weekly planners/calendars that I found at the $1 store. They are just perfect for your pocketbook.
So here is the before shot:

Once I took the cover off, I saw I had cardboard to work with, so I used the cover as
a template to cut out the cardstock and then taped it to the planner/calendar decorated the front and viola. Hand made weekly planner.

Here is my finished product:

Sketch Saturday #120

This was done for the Sketch Saturday Challenge. As soon as I saw the sketch, the put the papers together which is usually how I start any card, the hardest part was picking out an image. Everything was either too cute and wasn't right for the paper, or too big and overwhelmed the paper. So I started digging in my closet and came up with this. When I first stamped the image, I stamped it on vanila cardstock but it just stood out like a sore thumb, so I used one of the plain pieces of cardstock that came with the pack which matches so much better.

Autumn Brook & Lakeside Cove

The weather has taken a turn here in New York City. The air has that crispness to it so you know fall is fast approaching. With that in mind, I decided to make this card for my nephew. I find when ever I make a masculine card for my family and friends I reach for my stampscapes. This time, i didn't use my brayer, but used sponges since there were too many fall colors I wanted to use for the trees. Boy, did I get my hands dirty, but in the end it was worth it. They are much more vibrant in person, unfortunately, I couldn't get a good shot..

since I had all my inks out and the stampscapes out and my hands were covered in ink, I made this as well..after all we always need those extra masculine cards...

Stamps: Stampscapes: Autumn Brook, Rocky Peaks (small), Rowboat, Lakeside Cove, Grass
Paper: Stampin Up: Old Olive, Papertrey: Summer Sunrise, Autumn Abundance, Dark Brown CS I think is Bazil.
Extras: Top Note Die, MS Border Punch, Distressed Embossing Folder
Inks: I used both Stampin Up & Adirondack Inks

Saturday Sketch & Penny Black

I did this for the Sketch Saturday & Penny Black Challenge Blogs. I followed the sketch over at Sketch Saturday and used the colors Purple, Cream & Brown for the Penny Black challenge. I've had this paper for ages and glad that I was finally able to use it. Years ago, I belonged to a Scrapbook Club, this paper was from one of their monthly kits, I thought the papers were perfect for the Penny Black color theme since it has creams and purples in it. I even shocked myself that I remembered I had them...lol

So here goes:

Image: Penny Black: Let's Celebrate
Paper: so old I am clueless to who made them, but it was double sided so the lighter purple was used for the strip accross the middle and for the flowers
Extras: Sizzix Flourish Swirl, Rhinestones, MS border Punch, Self Adhesive Rhinestones. MS Branch Punch, Nellie Snellin Flower Punch.

Tilda-Unwrapped

This card took me all day, Guess because I tried combining more than 2 challenges into one card. I have a hard time with 2 so what possessed me to try to combine 4 is a mystery to me..I had to step away from it several times moving this moving that and I'm still not happy with the final result. So, I don't think I'll do that again. But I did get 3 out of the 4 on the card...It's was the lace that stumped me for the Simon Says challenge..So after all that is said and done, here is my take on the challenges

This fits the following challenges:
7 Kids College Fund: image from their store, 2 DP's 3 flowers, Sparkle (on leaves and present)

MONEY!!!!! 7 Kids meets Friday Sketchers

This Money Holder is so quick and easy to make and can be used for any occassion. I did this for the 7 Kids College Fund Challenge where we are to use 2 pieces of designer paper and of course something from the store and since you can purchase this adorable Critter Party set from Penny Black at the store, this fits. I also followed the sketch over at Friday Sketchers.

The measurements for this are 7 1/2" x 7 1/8" scoring at 2 3/4" & 5 3/4"..I think I scored on the 7 1/8" side..

The band is 1" x 7" scoring at 1 3/4" x 4 3/4".. For the circles I used my nesties
Here it is closed:

Here it is open: I used my Stampin Up 1 1/4" circle punch for the little slot that holds the money.

Boo!!!! Just Magnolia

I didn't think I'd be able to play today, I woke up with one of the worst migraine headaches I've had in awhile white lights, throwing up the whole nine yards. Couldn't take any more medication since I didn't know how much my body had already absorbed. My poor husband didn't know what to do since he couldn't help me. So God Bless my son, he heard what was going on, woke up, got cold compress, darkened the room and took great care of me. So now that I'm feeling a little better, I decided to check out the the Just Magnolia Blog, and must admit that as soon as I saw this sketch, I had to play along. What another great sketch by Dawny P.

Coffee Time

I followed Lillian's Sketch over at the Sugar Bowl. This week not only do we have to follow a sketch but we also have to use pearls somewhere on our card. So I used these blue ones as buttons on her dress and for the center of the flowers. I guess I am in a blue mood since all I've been using lately is blue and brown tones. Think I better shake things up a little bit and reach for another color, but I'm so in love with these new papers from Stampin Up and Pacific Point is such a vibrant color...

Looking for Sea Glass

As some of you know, I live on the beach. My oldest son and I used to takes walks on the beach and look for sea glass. This image always reminded me of us looking for sea glass. If some of you don't know what sea glass is, it is glass from bottles that has been worn away by the sand and tides and is quite beautiful. We always hoped we would find blue or green because it was like treasure when we found it. This was done for the Everybody Art Challenge. This weeks theme is Sea/Beach. Of course, this was right up my alley especially since I've been playing with the Seaside Sketches for the past few days. So I inked this image up and decided to play along.

Here is a picture of some of the sea glass that we have found over the years. Believe it or not, it's not like finding shells, finding this type of glass is quite rare. As you can see the edges are not sharp nor is the glass crystal clear like it would normally be. I am sure it takes years to achieve this beautiful affect. Do you think that maybe on his next day off, I can talk him into taking a walk on the beach with Mom again to see what treasures we can find.

As always, thanks for looking..

Floating Dreams

I went to Michaels and found this 12x12 Paper Pack from DCWV. Well, I couldn't put this down because the papers are so beautiful and it is a pack of my favorite colors, Blues & Browns, love that combo. So I hope you gals don't get tired of me using this cause something tells me I'll be using it for weeks to come. And what's even better, when I got up to the counter, it must have been on clearance because it was only $7.99!!! Unfortunately, the picture does not do the papers any justice because many of them have a sparkle to them but the camera does not show it well.

I also decided to dust off these adorable Mice from Penny Black. For the main image I used Floating Dreams then for the image on the bottom I decided to use one of the smaller images from the Critter Party Pack. They are great for accent images.

Here is a close up of the smaller image I used on the bottom.

Relaxing at the Lake-Copic Creations & Cute Card Thursday

Since I already had this set out, the papers out, and everything else out that I used yesterday, I thought I would put this card together. I thought that the image in the boat was pefect for the Copic Creations Challenge which is Reflections & that it would work perfectly with the Cute Card Thursday Sketch this week. I used my mirror image stamp and first stamped the boat which will be my reflection in the water, and then used my stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the image above the water so that I could line it up with the reflection. I then used my versa marker pen and carefully colored in the image that is above the water, put on Clear Embossing Powder and heat embossed so that when I brayered over it, it would not pick up any of the color. I did not do this for the reflection image since it is in the water, it does not have to be crisp & clean. After I brayerd soft sky, & Baja Breeze over the entire image, I sponged on Not Quite Navy to give it a little depth. This was also inspired by a tutorial given by Michelle Zindorf quite some time ago and glad I remembered it.

Mojo Monday #152

It has been ages upon ages since I've done a Mojo Monday Challenge, and ages upon ages that I did a "normal" size card which is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. Lately I've been doing 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 easel cards. Anyway, thought this sketch was perfect for this image and I so love this retired set from SU and thought it would be perfect for my parents who will be celebrating there 59th Wedding Anniversary next week. I used this image since it reminded me of the days long ago when my father took me and my sister to Jones Beach.

As always, a close up:
