I am finishing up on my Valentine cards, so I followed the sketch at Sketch Satruday and tied it in with a few other challenges. I used my Swiss Dot Embossing Folder so that I could enter it in the Just Magnolia Challenge which this weeks theme is dotty, and since it is embossed it fits MDU. So here is my take on the challenges listed below. Hope you like it, here goes.

Magical Birthday
I knew I had to ink this LOTV up and follow the Lili of the Valley theme this week which is anything but a square. I loved using these colors, which is not colors that I am used to using, but it was fun, to use something that was a little different for me.
This looks much better IRL..I embossed the bottom and then stickled it, but the camera wasn't catching it right, so it sort of looks like mush..I tried a few different times, but couldn't get the right shot..Sorry.
This fits the following challenges

My First Kenny K Creation
I was just about to up-load this and realized after I checked out the blog that I left out the band across the bottom. So I had to carefully take off the image and place the band with the red ribbon behind it and retake the pictures so I guess this is take 2...lol But at least I caught it before I entered it into the challenge. Anyway, this was my first purchase at Kenny K's and was purchased with hubby in mind, I think it will be perfect for Valentine's Day . I didn't want anything cutesy and this definitely fit the bill. I must say, I really enjoyed coloring her in totally different experience from coloring in Tilda's I might add..

Just Magnolia, Magnolia Down Under
I followed the sketch at Just Magnolia, which was designed by Donalda, and since I am reusing the ribbon that came wrapped around my beautiful calendar that Tammi gave me I am also recycling it so this fits Magnolia Down Under which is to reduce/reuse/ or recycle
Once again I followed the tutorial for making copics look like Distress inks given by Suzanne Dean which can be found here
I am loving these flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts, don't know what took me so long to join the band wagon. But, I am really enjoying them and glad I finally took the plunge.

I Love You This Much!!!
Suzanne Dean made this great tutorial on using copics to look like those beautiful Scandanavian Magnolia's that are colored with distress inks. You can find it here I have always loved that look and have always wanted to give it a try, but did not want to invest, or find room for more stuff. So this was right up my alley. It was my first attempt and I must say I am very pleased with the result. It was also the first time I used these gorgeous flowers by
Wild Orchid Crafts
This fits the:
Magnolia Stamp Lovers Challenge: Sentiment
Wild Orchid Crafts: Sentiment
Simon Says: Bingo-3 things in a row: Flower/Ribbon/Die Cut
7 Kids College Fund: Challenge Yourself- My first attempt at using copics to look like distess inks & my first use of WOC Flowers.
Copic Creations: Something New: Flowers, & use of copics to look like distress inks
I used Tilda Wants a Hug, and covered up the Holly Berries in her hair with these pearls so that it would be more appropriate for Valentine's Day. This image reminds me of the days when my kids were young and we used to banter back and forth saying, "I Love This Much"' and of course the kids would try and make their arms wider and say, "No I Love You More, I Love You This Much". I miss those days...

Pencil Holder with Tutorial
I found this tutorial awhile back and have always wanted to give it a try. When I looked at the date of the print out it was from May of 2009. Took me long enough right. I tried to do a direct link but for some reason when i tried to do it, it said the link appears to be broken, so just copy and paste this
http://creationsbypatti.blogspot.com/
then on the right click on tutorials and it is around the third page

My First Pop Up Card
Just want to say Thank You..for everyones get well wishes. Reading your comments really touched my heart and helped me have a speedy recovery. I don't think I've ever been that sick in my life. I did not come out of bed until Monday when I went back to work. Can't believe the flu took such a toll on me.
Now that the weekend is here, I finally got to play with my Big Shot Pro...Yeah !!!! and made my very first Pop-Up card... Took a few tries since everything is trial and error right now. Try #1 I used the same paper as the face of the card but since I didn't put the crease pad in, it ripped. Since it was my last piece.. had to go with plain red..Next one, I'll try to go fancier. I used this adorable Sugar Plum that I purchased last year and finally inked up, I cut the top of her cart so that I could place the hearts in it. The hearts were cut with a spellbinder die as was the word love that is in the inside of the card.
The arrow is a Sizzix die, the flowers Primsa, the butterfly a MS punch, and I placed these roses in the center of the flowers that I found at a local craft store.
and finally the inside of the card....
Ta Da!!!!

It's Official I have the flu!!!
I usualy get to play at least a little over the weekend, but unfortunately, i just don't have the strength I so want to play, my body says no though!!! Unfortunately, I have the flu..one of the little buggers at school, got me and got me good!! I have a 102 fever, ache's, pains, a headache, my back feels like it is going to snap. Every flu system you can think of I have and then some. The shivering is so bad my teeth are chattering. Hopefully by tomorrow which will be day two on the medications I'll feel human again.. I haven't been out of bed since Thursday when I came home from work. Poor hubby has been sleeping on the recliner in the living room cause I can't get him sick especially with his MS it would really knock him for a loop.. He can't walk now so this would really complicate things..
My new Big Shot Pro is here, the dies are here and I just don't have the oomph to play I'm itching to make a pop up card.,Or at least one of those adorable boxes I ordered... Oh well, I guess it will have to be next weekend as long as I didn't infect anyone else in my household I should be good.. The moral of this story.. Make sure you get your flu shot!!!! I will definitely get mine next year since it is too late now..

Love you Sis-Magnolia-licious/Flutter by Wednesday/Magnolia Stamp Lovers
Here is my take on the Magnolia-licious recipe which included 3 Designer Papers, 4 Flowers, 2 Magnolia Images & 1 Ribbon. I kinda cheated on the flowers though.. it wasn't quite balanced so had to add a few more on the top. This also fits Magnolia Stamp Lover which is Blue and since I added the butterfly, it also fits the Flutter by Wednesday challenge.

Magnolia Calendar
For the last 2 years I made desk calendars for the Principal, two Assistant Principals, my sister and a few close friends. It was my "summer project" I made a total of 9 sets. This year however, I wasn't going to make them because of things going on at home.
When the Principal found out I wasn't making them this year, she actually pouted, and was clearly upset. Then I mentioned it to my sister, and she was also upset. So in October, yes October I decided to take on this project, and the 9 sets that I did now became 12 since my niece and soon to be niece wanted a set as well. What possessed me to take this on at such a late date is still a mystery..Will I do this again.. No Way Jose.. because what should have been relaxing became quite stressful trying to get them done by Christmas. So guess what my summer project will be this year... any takers?
So here are a few months of my 2011 Magnolia Calendars.. not as detailed as I would have like, but I guess I'll make up for that next year...
As always, thanks for stopping by..

Sunset on the Serengeti - Brayer Technique
I'm off to work shortly, :( Will not be able to really really play this week double :( But anyway, I did these cards yesterday needed a few more masculine cards and am uploading them this morning before I head off to work.
I fell in love with both these images as soon as I saw them at I Brake for Stamps. so, I purchased these and a few others. I knew they would be perfect for a brayered card. I find I reach for my brayer whenever I do masculine cards. I love to brayer, but don't do it often enough. What a mess I make...lol So once again, I dusted it off and put it to the test. I began with versa mark & Classic Black ink and stamped this image on White Glossy Paper, then heat embossed with embossing powder so that when I brayered over the image, it would not pick up any other colors. I began to brayer on Summer Sun,then Cameo Coral and finished it up with a touch of Real Red. I followed this technique for both images.
I could not get a good image yesterday, it is a very dark and dreary day. So I didn't have good lightening. They are much prettier in real life.
Image #1: Elephants:
Figured since my hands were already covered in ink, and everything was already out might as well make another card. So here goes...
Image #2: Cactus Silouette
Image: I Brake for Stamps: Elephants & Cactus Silouette
Paper: White Glossy Paper, Basic Black, Peach Parfait
Inks: Stampin Up: Classic Black, Summer Sun, Cameo Coral, Real Red
Extras: Brayer, MS Self Adhesive Ribbon (believe it or not from last years Halloween collection) Stampin Up Corner Punch and Self Adhesive rhinestones.
As always, thanks for looking have a great day.

Just Magnolia/Friday Sketchers/7 Kids
Well, I am trying to get another card or two done before tomorrow when I go back to work. Once that starts, I don't get to play til my hearts content. I will definately miss it. I had so much fun this week especially peeking into everyones blogs. I decided to get my nephews card done who's birthday is in mid January. He is a chef who works in a restaurant in Soho. So of course this Edwin was perfect for that. Since anything goes in both the 7 Kids College Fund and Just Magnolia, I combined it with the Friday Sketchers Sketch. And speaking of college funds, start saving for all those application fees as well. My son is working on his applications this week. He is applying 14 colleges many of them ivy leagues and each college has it's own application fee. Those range anywhere from $50-$75 oh and don't forget the fees for sending in SAT scores. Geeze Louise, looks like I'll be doing lots and lots of overtime...
It killed me not to add any flowers or swirls, I feel it is so plain, but since it is a masculine card, I just added the brads.

Paper: DCWV-At Home, SU Chocolate Chip
